Thanks to Dr
Sena Nanayakkara's creative efforts and foresight, an official
‘website' for FOC was launched in January 2000, with the prime aim
of providing, up to date information on the progress of present
activities, highlights of previous FOC events, and to improve
PR & Publicity each year.
Therefore, in
moving with the times it became apparent that FOC had to obtain
the services of a professional agency for setting up and maintenance
of a web site as there were no in-house volunteers. Once set up,
regular updating was essential to keep it attractive. FOC needed
its own identity (domain) and easy access.

Dr Sena Nanayakkara
The
house accepted in principle that establishing a web site would be
very useful. Initial exploratory professional costs were significantly
high. Kirula Leelasena agreed to assist and guide Dr Nanayakkara
to fulfil that cherished dream. He agreed to offer his services
entirely free of charge and he also obtained a very easily
accessible and most suitable domain which is now registered officially.
By default,
|
Dr Nanayakkara
became the typist, reporter, clerk and the editor, and eventually
on the 12 th of January 2000 the official website for the FOC was
launched.
Our sincere
thanks should go to Kirula for his patience, understanding and the
enthusiasm shown as the FOC's web master, to Dharme Weerasinghe
for the offer of his timely advice, guidance and encouragement,
to Jayasiri Jayawardene for supplying the photos, to Jagath (Bernard)
Fernando and Richard Wijesekera for collating information, to Indran
Duraisingham and Chandra Liyanage for encouragement and information
sharing and to all the committee members for their support and encouragement,
and above all to Dr Sena Nanayakkara for his untiring effort and
total commitment.
